What does the ENS sync check do?

It compares your .eth name records against the wallet and data you expect, so you can see where an address, avatar or record has drifted out of sync before it causes a problem.

Why would my ENS records be out of sync?

Records can fall behind when you change wallets, move a name, or update some records but not others. The check surfaces the gaps so you can correct them.

Does the sync check cost anything?

No. The sync check is free and read-only. It does not require a transaction and never moves your names.

A name is in sync when the owner and manager (controller) are the same address. If they differ, the manager can change records without the owner's consent. To fix a name, open it in the ENS app and reclaim the manager role. Multi-name sync is coming soon on ENSVision.
